Porto City Council is preparing a protocol with Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) for the management of the Via de Cintura Interior (VCI - Inner Ring Road). The agreement aims to transfer maintenance and management responsibilities of this road infrastructure to the municipality.
The protocol covers several areas of intervention, including landscaping improvements along the VCI. The aim is to enhance the visual appearance of the road and its surroundings.
Additionally, the protocol includes the cleaning of land near the VCI, an issue that has been a concern for municipal services. The management of accesses and existing junctions on the road will also fall under the responsibility of Porto City Council.
With this agreement, the municipality formally assumes responsibility for these elements of the VCI, previously managed by IP. This transfer of competencies allows the City Council greater control over the maintenance and enhancement of this important circular road of the city.
