The winning ticket corresponds to the Tuesday draw, August 25, and matched the five main numbers (8, 16, 30, 47 and 48) and one star (4), guaranteeing the second prize. There is a single winner registered in that category in the United Kingdom.
The deadline to claim the prize extends until February 21, 2027, as indicated on the unclaimed prizes list on Euro-Millions.com. Andy Carter, responsible for winner follow-up at Allwyn, operator of the British National Lottery, appealed to anyone who bought a ticket in Birmingham for that draw to check their bets.
In the United Kingdom, the National Lottery sets a 180-day deadline after the draw to claim prizes. If the prize is not claimed within the applicable deadline, the money and generated interest revert to projects supported by the organization in the country.
In Portugal, the deadlines are different. According to Santa Casa Jogos, the right to the prize expires after 90 days from the date of the draw. The Birmingham case is subject to British rules, since the bet was placed in the United Kingdom.
