The director of the European Union's Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC), Michiel van der Laan, said today, in Maputo, that it is in the interest of the European bloc to maintain support for Mozambique in combating insurgent groups.
The statement was made during a visit to Mozambique, where van der Laan reaffirmed the European Union's commitment to the country in the fight against insurgency.
The European official highlighted that support for Mozambique is not only a matter of solidarity but also corresponds to the strategic interests of the European Union itself.
This position comes at a time when Mozambique continues to face security challenges related to armed groups in the northern region of the country.
