China denied on Monday the news that Chinese entities would have supplied Iran with satellite images of an American military base in Jordan, where an Iranian attack killed American soldiers. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun categorically rejected the suspicions, saying there is no evidence to support the accusations.
The statement came a day after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, downplayed the allegations published in American newspapers. Trump said Washington also spies on Beijing, suggesting the accusation should not generate so much controversy.
On July 17, Iran launched missiles at the Muwaffaq Salti air base in Jordan, where American forces are stationed. The attack resulted in the death of three American military personnel. According to the context revealed by American newspapers, Iran had access to Chinese satellite images before carrying out the deadly attack on the US base in Jordan.
