Sintra City Council established 167 fines and launched an awareness campaign against the abandonment of bulky waste and litter on public roads. This initiative comes as a result of persistent problems with non-compliance with waste disposal rules in the city.
The mayor of Sintra acknowledges that there is still a small number of people who do not respect the established rules. Given this situation, the municipality decided to implement stricter measures, including the application of fines through the fines already established.
The launched campaign aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of not abandoning bulky waste and litter in public spaces. This awareness action complements the enforcement and penalization measures already in force in the municipality.
With this dual approach, which combines awareness and penalization, the local authority aims to reduce the phenomenon of illegal abandonment of waste and bulky items on public roads in Sintra.
