Santos announced this Monday the signing of Philippe Coutinho. The midfielder, 34 years old, underwent medical exams last Saturday at CT Rei Pelé and signed a contract with the São Paulo club until the end of 2026. The club highlighted on social media the player's renowned technical quality and vision of the game, as well as his successful career in Europe and with the Brazilian National Team.
Even before the official announcement, Coutinho had already watched Santos' victory over Cruzeiro at Vila Belmiro on Saturday, sitting next to Neymar and Gabigol. The number 10 of Santos ended up anticipating the signing by posting a video on social media announcing the arrival of the new reinforcement.
Neymar and Coutinho are back to sharing a locker room after playing together for the Brazilian National Team. Emotional, Neymar posted a welcome video saying he didn't want to wake up if it was a dream, and stated that he came to hug and take care of his teammate.
The signing represents a significant addition for Santos, which is looking to regain its space in Brazilian football relying on players with international experience. Coutinho's return to the club where he started his professional career marks another chapter in the midfielder's history with Brazilian football.
