Ginásio Clube Figueirense kicked off the academic and sporting year with a victory for the Under-18 team in a friendly game against União de Leiria, held on Friday, September 11th. The team won 88-54, demonstrating determination and imposing their game pace to secure a confident victory in the first match of the 2026/27 season. The club thanked the collaboration of table officials and the refereeing team.
The club highlighted the importance of time management for student-athletes, stating that sports practice develops concentration, discipline and energy, factors that contribute to better academic performance. An afternoon dedicated to sport for students, teachers and non-teaching staff of ISCAC is also scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th, who will travel by train from Bencanta to Fontela to try out the sports modalities offered by the Ginásio.
The highlight goes to the annual gathering called "Gymnasium Day", which will take place on Saturday, September 19th, at Pavilhão Galamba Marques and the Gymnasium Swimming Pool. The activities start at 10:00 with an "Open Morning", where the public can try out various sports for free, followed at 12:00 by the ceremony to award distinctions to national champions and international athletes from the 2024/2025 season and a social lunch at 13:00.
Also on September 19th, at 17:00, the XVI Meeting of Former Basketball Athletes will take place at Pavilhão Galamba Marques. At 15:00, at Table Tennis, Ginásio will face Câmara Lisboa Clube "B" in Fátima, in a qualifying game for the spot in the 2nd National Division.
