The office of Minister Cristiano Zanin, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), received on Monday the copy of the data from banker Daniel Vorcaro's phone. The delivery was made after Zanin determined on Sunday that the Federal Police send the full contents of the device.
The episode represents another chapter in the clash between ministers on the eve of the ruling that could authorize an investigation into the conduct of Minister Alexandre de Moraes. On Sunday, Minister André Mendonça had reinforced to Fachin his position against sharing all this material, alleging that it could harm ongoing investigations.
Zanin issued the order under the argument that he wants to "form his conviction to be fit" for Tuesday's ruling. The magistrate understands that he needs to know the material that originated the Federal Police report that records the exchange of messages between Daniel Vorcaro and Moraes, "regardless of other implications that the material may indicate".
