The President of Cabo Verde, José Maria Neves, announced today his re-candidacy for the position in the November 15 elections, at a press conference held in Lisbon.
Neves, who is a member of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV), has been in office since October 2021, having been elected with around 51% of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections.
The announcement was made during a visit to Lisbon, where the President of Cabo Verde was on an official trip. During the press conference, Neves presented the reasons for his re-candidacy.
The presidential elections of November 15 represent an important moment in the political life of Cabo Verde, and Neves's re-candidacy marks the beginning of the electoral race for the head of state position.
