In the October 4 elections, Brazilians will elect state and federal deputies, two senators, governors, and the president of the Republic. CBN launched on Monday (14) a series of reports explaining the basic duties of each position up for election.
The first report in the series addresses the role of the state deputy. To do this, CBN's team heard from citizens on the streets, who demonstrated they were unaware of the politicians' functions. "You've got me there...", "I won't be able to tell you", were some of the responses collected.
The most well-known function of the state deputy is creating and voting on laws for the state, including rules about local taxes such as ICMS and IPVA. Deputies also have other duties that complement their legislative role.
