"Vinho da Roda" is returning to Madeira after a voyage of several months aboard the School-Ship Sagres. Two pipes of 2021 Verdelho made this journey as part of a tradition that associates Madeiran wine with historic maritime routes.
The wine was transported on the Sagres, the renowned training ship of the Portuguese Navy, which carries out missions to train cadets and represent Portugal abroad.
The arrival and unloading of the pipes is scheduled for tomorrow at IVBAM, the Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute of Madeira, the body responsible for managing and promoting traditional regional products.
This initiative falls within the tradition of the so-called "Vinho da Roda," which commemorates the old sea voyages during which Madeira wine was transported to ships crossing the Atlantic.
