DECO questions the legality of fixed taxi fares at Lisbon airport

dnoticias.pt14 September 2026 at 11:56

DECO questioned the legality of the protocol that establishes fixed fares for taxis originating from Lisbon airport. The consumer protection association considers that this measure may penalize consumers and limit the possibility of choosing the meter.

The protocol in question is a cooperation and self-regulation agreement that was signed by representative taxi associations and the Lisbon City Council.

According to this protocol, from October 15, fixed fares of 16 or 19 euros will be applied for daytime trips on weekdays, depending on the destination zone.

Why this matters

Consumers traveling through Lisbon airport may be directly affected by this change, no longer having the possibility to choose between fixed fare and meter. DECO warns that the measure may violate consumer rights, which may have legal and practical implications for those using taxis in this area.
