The councilors from PSD and Chega at Leiria city council advocated for the reduction of IRS and derrama rates for 2027, but failed to convince the socialist majority to change the proposal to maintain the values.
Leiria city council approved the maintenance of IMI, IRS and derrama rates for the next year, following the same line as previous years.
The opposition parties criticized the PS position, arguing that a tax reduction would benefit the residents and boost the local economy.
The socialist majority maintained its position and the proposal to maintain the rates was approved, despite the dissenting voices of the two right-wing parties on the municipal executive.
