Uganda faces a succession dispute after an amateur goalkeeper, who was the committee's first choice to occupy the throne, refused the appointment. The man, from southeast London, claimed he had other responsibilities that prevented him from accepting the position of king.
After this refusal, the committee chose a substitute, but the deceased king's family rejected this decision. The relatives presented a 2022 will that, according to them, the committee ignored during the selection process for the new monarch.
The dispute arises in the context of a royal succession in Uganda, where the choice of the new king has become a controversial process that now involves legal and family issues about who should legally inherit the throne.
