The Liberal Initiative party (IL) starts today, in Porto, two days of parliamentary sessions dedicated to state reform, taxation and health. The event marks the start of a series of political initiatives by the liberal party to debate the country's future.
The IL argues that Portugal is currently in a situation of political stagnation, characterized by the party as "unreformable". According to the liberal formation, this paralysis results from the existence of a majority that they pejoratively designate as "majority of deadlocks", meaning a majority that cannot or does not want to advance with structural reforms.
The party considers it urgent to refocus the national political debate, moving it away from what they consider minor issues or immobility. The parliamentary sessions thus serve as a platform for IL to present its proposals for change in areas considered strategic for the country's development.
With these initiatives, the Liberal Initiative seeks to affirm itself as a political alternative and mobilize support for its reformist agenda, seeking to demonstrate that there are alternative paths to the current deadlock scenario that they say characterizes Portuguese governance.
