German tennis player Alexander Zverev won the US Open, becoming the first German since Boris Becker in 1989 to claim this title in New York.
Zverev needed four sets to defeat young American player Ben Shelton, who represented the host country in the tournament.
This victory marks a historic return of German tennis to the top of the sport, with Zverev breaking a 35-year drought since the last triumph of a German in New York.
