The Government authorized the renewal of the video surveillance system in Bairro Alto, in Lisbon. The system was initially implemented in 2024 and has been renewed every three years.
The Lisbon City Council signed an agreement with the Public Security Police (PSP) to expand the video surveillance network in the city. The plan includes the installation of 500 more cameras in various areas of the capital.
This overall investment amounts to 12 million euros, covering both the renewal of the existing system in Bairro Alto and the expansion to new areas of the city.
The measure comes in a context of concern about public safety and aims to reinforce surveillance in areas with higher population density or nightlife activity.
