More than 30 civil society organisations have addressed an appeal to the European Commission for nature-based solutions to be integrated as a priority in future European resilience legislation.
The organisations want these solutions to serve as a "line of defence" for the European Union against climate catastrophes.
The request was made at a time when the European Union is debating strategies to address environmental challenges and the consequences of climate change.
The organisations emphasise the importance of investing in approaches that use natural resources to mitigate the effects of climate change and strengthen the adaptation capacity of the European continent.
