The plenary of the Supreme Federal Court will judge next Tuesday, the 15th, whether to open an investigation against Minister Alexandre de Moraes or not. This is not about deciding on the initiation of criminal proceedings, as there is still no formal indictment, nor about evaluating whether the magistrate is guilty, but rather about authorizing the investigation of facts contained in a Federal Police report.
The report, of 218 pages, lists a set of 52 messages sent by banker Daniel Vorcaro to Moraes. The document was initially sent to Minister André Mendonça, who also serves on the STF. The dialogues were recorded in the weeks preceding the banker's first arrest and the liquidation of his financial institution.
Despite the likely proliferation of procedural motions and preliminary questions during the session, the ministers will be gathered to analyze the document. There is also the possibility of a request for a view, which could delay the final decision. The session will be public and open to the public.
