Lula and Flavio Bolsonaro wage a legal battle against unproven accusations, with lawyers from both leading candidates attempting to block what they consider fake news. The Superior Electoral Court has already suspended campaign content since the official start of the presidential campaign a month ago.
Among the blocked content are accusations that associate President Lula (PT), a candidate for re-election, to the PCC without presenting evidence, as well as unsubstantiated criminal imputations against candidates.
The decisions show that the Court has classified as disinformation not only false statements but also true facts presented without adequate context to alter their interpretation.
A survey conducted by GLOBO on the TSE's electronic bulletin board identified the suspension decisions since the official start of the campaign.
