The Iniciativa Liberal party launched parliamentary sessions in Porto, at a time when the party positions itself as an opposition force to the current government. The sessions are taking place under the motto of wanting to help reform the country, an implicit reference to the Socialist Party executive that governs with an absolute majority.
Mário Amorim Lopes was the main speaker at these sessions, having criticized the current governance and defending that Portugal needs reforms in all areas. The party considers that there is a "majority of deadlocks" in parliament that does not advance the necessary changes.
The sessions will focus on three main axes: taxation, health, and State reform. These are identified as the priority sectors where the country most needs reformist intervention according to Iniciativa Liberal.
In addition to these three main areas, the party indicated that it also intends to address topics such as Social Security and justice during these sessions. The goal is to debate concrete proposals for change in various sectors of Portuguese governance.
