Coach Leonardo Jardim admitted he substituted striker Pedro for fellow striker Bruno Henrique in the match against Corinthians to bring more aggressiveness to Flamengo. According to the coach, when the defensive blocks are low, it's necessary to press early and have more aggressive players on the field.
The change had an immediate effect, as Bruno Henrique, in two crosses, hit the post on one and scored a goal on the other. Jardim stated that this was the intention from the start and the result proved the strategy right.
The scenario will be different in the next match, against Independiente del Valle, for the Libertadores. Since Flamengo holds a 2-0 advantage on aggregate, Jardim believes the opponent will need to attack and won't sit back, unlike Corinthians, for whom a draw was a positive result.
The coach also informed that he awaits the return of Léo Pereira, who was rested before yesterday's match due to feeling pain, for the upcoming schedule of the team's games.
