Gustavo Paulo Duarte, president of the CCP, warned that the increase in the national minimum wage is generating negative effects on the majority of workers. According to the official, companies, when forced by decree to raise minimum wages, lose financial capacity to reward the remaining employees.
The president of the CCP considers that the minimum wage decree constitutes the main obstacle to the growth of the average salary in the country. This situation is pressuring and demotivating workers who earn above the minimum, but who do not benefit from the same increases.
Duarte argues that the mandatory setting of minimum wages by decree limits companies in their capacity for income distribution, thus creating a harmful cycle for the economy and for the workers themselves.
