The Portuguese Firefighters League (LBP) warned that the fuel increases are placing extreme financial pressure on firefighters, describing the situation as financial strangulation. The organization representing firefighters in Portugal expressed concern about the impact of growing fuel costs on operations and the financial sustainability of fire stations.
This warning comes at a time when several district federations of firefighters, which are members of the Portuguese Firefighters League, have also come forward demanding urgent measures from the Government to address the problem. The district federations, representing firefighters at the regional level, have joined the League's position to pressure authorities to intervene.
The situation reflects the difficulties faced by various fire stations across the country, which see their operational costs increasing significantly due to rising fuel prices, without any specific government measures having been announced so far to support the sector.
