The Auxiliary Bishop of Caracas celebrated for the first time in Madeira a mass as bishop, presiding over the feast of Our Lady of Amparo at the parish of Ribeira Seca. This celebration marked a significant moment for the local Catholic community, which celebrates its patron saint on this day.
Pastor Fábio Ferreira was responsible for organizing the ceremony and offered the new bishop a mitre embroidered by embroiderers from the Ribeira Seca community, demonstrating local talent and tradition. In addition to the mitre, a staff carved from the woods of the Madeira mountains was also offered.
The bishop is described as "a son of the land", since his parents are from Madeira. This connection to Madeiran roots makes the celebration even more special for the local community, which received the prelate as someone who belongs to the region.
