The Douro Museum hosts until September 21 the exhibition "Drawings of the Douro", a showcase dedicated to the landscape, heritage and communities of the Douro region. The exhibition presents more than 80 drawings produced by artist António Modesto over the last five years, mostly made in crayon.

The works cover different elements of the territory, including estates, vineyards, architecture, villages, grape harvests and the Douro River. António Modesto explores the forms, dimensions and chromatic contrasts of the wine landscape through representations that vary between realism and a more poetic approach.

Why this matters

The exhibition offers residents and visitors to the Douro region the opportunity to see a vast collection of drawings that document and interpret the local heritage, from estates and vineyards to traditional architecture and the Douro River, functioning as a cultural record of the region.
