A 12-story building under construction, whose work had been embargoed, collapsed in the early morning of Friday (11) to Saturday (12) over a house in the Penha neighborhood, in the East Zone of São Paulo. The accident occurred at 2:01am on Saturday morning, during a rain in the capital.
As of now, three people have died and two were rescued alive from the rubble. Firefighters reported that a pregnant woman was found dead, a second woman was also located deceased, and a man was found dead at the scene. Two other victims — an adult man and a young female child — were taken to the Tatuapé Emergency Room with minor injuries, such as bruises and abrasions.
Rescue teams remain at the scene to locate possible victims. According to firefighters, a total of eight people were at the residence at the time of the collapse, all from a Bolivian family. The searches continued Sunday morning, with teams committed to locating and rescuing any remaining possible victims.
