Microsoft announced on Saturday the incorporation of the Grok family of artificial intelligence models into its Copilot assistant, an integration that was publicly celebrated on social media by Elon Musk, owner of Grok and the company xAI that developed the models.
The implementation of the Grok models will begin through a pilot program in key productivity applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. However, Microsoft clarified that Grok will not be available for Copilot customers in the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, or the United Kingdom during the preview phase.
Microsoft's chief executive, Satya Nadella, welcomed the tool through his account on the social network X, while Musk reacted by sharing the announcement with the message "Grok available on Microsoft Copilot."
The integration coincides with a period of strong ethical and legal scrutiny over the tool. The company xAI faces a lawsuit in California that accuses it of commercially and knowingly profiting from non-consensual digital nudity features that affected women and minors, facts that Musk denied having knowledge of.
