On October 4, the State of Rio de Janeiro will hold elections to elect the next governor, in addition to the president of the Republic, state and federal deputies and two senators. The expectation is that 12.8 million voters will go to the polls, including approximately 420 thousand active public servants, retirees and state pensioners.

The next occupant of Guanabara Palace will be responsible for decisions that will directly affect the public servants of Rio de Janeiro. Throughout the week, four candidates for governor were interviewed about their main proposals aimed at state public servants: Eduardo Paes (PSD), Douglas Ruas (PL), Anthony Garotinho (Republicanos) and William Siri (Psol).

The candidates addressed topics such as promises, expectations, holding of public service contests and openness to salary negotiations with the servants. Each presented their specific proposals for the public sector.

Last Friday, the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) unanimously rejected the registration of Anthony Garotinho's candidacy. However, he can still appeal to the Superior Electoral Court to try to reverse the decision.
