A large fire broke out this morning in Água de Penha, on Madeira, with its start recorded at 9 am on Sunday. The fire, which quickly gained significant proportions, is affecting the region and has required a robust response from local authorities.
The situation mobilized resources from three fire brigades: Machico, Santa Cruz and Santana. Firefighters from these three brigades are on site to combat the flames, with the triangulation of resources carried out for a coordinated and effective response.
In addition to ground resources, the helicopter of the Regional Civil Protection Service was also deployed to assist in fighting the fire, providing aerial capability to help control the flames.
Valter Ferreira, adjutant of the Civil Protection Command, confirmed the information about the start of the fire and explained that the triangulation of resources was carried out to optimize the response of the different brigades and available resources on the ground.
