The former Portuguese prime minister José Sócrates faces a new trial related to "money laundering" crimes. The sessions of this trial will begin on October 19.
Sócrates, who was once prime minister of Portugal, is the main target of this new trial. The case involves accusations of money laundering.
The judge who will preside over the trial has only four years of experience in the role, which has been noted as a particularity of this case. This will be the second time Sócrates is tried for financial crimes, after having already been indicted in previous legal proceedings.
