Rui Tavares, Member of Parliament for Livre, categorically rejected the accusations made by André Ventura, Chega's leader, regarding the alleged break-in at the party's office. Tavares considered that the accusations are unfounded and that Ventura is trying to manipulate public opinion.
The Member of Parliament for Livre added that he may resort to justice to defend his name and reputation against the accusations he considers unfounded and harmful to his public image.
Rui Tavares stated that André Ventura appears to be "very nervous" and justified this assessment by saying that, according to the Member of Parliament for Livre, more and more people are realizing that the office story is "very poorly told."
Tavares also said that the situation of the alleged break-in at Chega's office has "many appearances of being a sort of self-coup," suggesting that the incident may have been fabricated by the Chega party itself for political purposes.
