The Portuguese Government has expressed interest in holding a total 20% stake in REN (Redes Energéticas Nacionais). Parpública, the company responsible for managing public holdings, currently owns 13.7% of REN's capital.
According to published information, should this operation proceed at current market prices, Parpública would need to invest an additional 147 million euros to increase its position in the company.
This additional investment adds to the 389 million euros that Parpública has already spent to acquire the 13.7% it currently holds in REN.
In total, the operation would represent a potential investment of 537 million euros for the Portuguese State through Parpública, should the stake be raised to 20%.
