The Polytechnic University of Coimbra (UPCoimbra) will coordinate the European project ResSuDSCita – Resilient and Sustainable Drainage Systems for Cities, which aims to make cities more resilient to climate change. The project focuses on the development of sustainable and resilient drainage systems for urban centers.
The project consortium is composed of several European institutions and has funding from the European Union. The coordination by UPCoimbra represents recognition of the Portuguese institution's expertise in urban management and climate change adaptation.
This type of initiative arises in the context of the growing need to prepare urban centers for the challenges posed by climate change, including extreme weather events such as floods and heat waves. Drainage systems play a crucial role in urban resilience.
