Lando Norris claimed his first pole position in Madrid by beating Kimi Antonelli by just 11 thousandths of a second in the final moments of qualifying. The British McLaren driver set the fastest time on the circuit known as the Madring.
Young Kimi Antonelli, a Mercedes prospect, came very close to taking pole but ended up just short of the glory of the first position on the grid.
Max Verstappen completed the top three, securing third position on the starting grid. The Red Bull driver lines up on the front row alongside Norris and Antonelli.
