Neemias Queta gives name and face to a new court with Portugal's colors in Boston. The playground dedicated to the Portuguese international from the Boston Celtics was inaugurated this Saturday in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The court displays the number 88, the same number Queta uses for the Boston Celtics, and pays tribute to the strong Portuguese-American community in the Boston area. This is a way of recognizing the presence and contribution of the Portuguese community in that area of the United States.
Neemias Queta recently became the first Portuguese person to play in the NBA, when he signed with the Boston Celtics. The player, born in Gambia but of Portuguese nationality, has represented the Portuguese national basketball team and continues to make history in Portuguese basketball.
The inauguration ceremony of the court was attended by Neemias Queta himself, who gave his name and image to this sports infrastructure. The playground thus represents an important milestone both for the player and for the Portuguese-American community in Cambridge.
