The general secretary of PS defended today several reforms to local government, presenting proposals that aim to change the way municipalities are financed and governed.
Among the main proposals is the allocation of a share of renewable energy revenues to municipalities, allowing these local authorities to directly benefit from the production of clean energy in their territory.
PS also proposes a new municipal electoral law, whose objective is to ensure greater stability to municipal executives, possibly changing rules for the election and functioning of municipal chambers.
These proposals arise in the context of a broader debate on the decentralization of competencies and resources to local government in Portugal.
