Helena Leal advocates for more opportunities for young people to participate in the community

dnoticias.pt12 September 2026 at 15:39

Helena Leal, councilwoman with the Youth portfolio at the Funchal Municipal Council, defended this Saturday the importance of creating opportunities for young people to participate in the community and exercise citizenship.

The official spoke at a session dedicated to the platform 'Meeting Point - Citizenship in Service of Portugal', which was promoted by the Viriatos.14 Association.

The event, under the theme "Military Service - Citizenship", took place in the Assembly Hall of Funchal and brought together young people and students.

Why this matters

Helena Leal's defense of more opportunities for civic participation of young people in the Funchal community represents a local political orientation that may influence future municipal initiatives aimed at youth. Young people in the region directly benefit from these discussions, which may shape inclusion and democratic participation policies in the municipality of Funchal.
