Banco BPI is leaving Angola. The Portuguese bank announced its exit from the capital of Angolan BFA through the sale of its stake to the Carrinho Group. The value of the transaction amounts to 388.5 million euros.
The sale was agreed between Banco BPI and Congolian Financial (CFSA), which will take over the position previously held by the Portuguese bank in BFA.
The Carrinho Group had previously expressed interest in the Angolan bank. The company was one of BFA's reference shareholders since the initial public offering held a year ago, when it took the opportunity to build a 7.61% stake in the bank's capital.
