The expansion of the fiber optic network is advancing in the municipality of Alijó, with approximately 600 new households expected to have access to next-generation broadband services by the end of the third quarter. The works, promoted by dstelecom, should raise the fiber optic coverage to approximately 98% of the municipal territory.
The ongoing interventions will allow the digital infrastructure to be extended to the localities of Cotas, Vale de Mendiz, Casal de Loivos, Vilarinho de Cotas and Póvoa, reinforcing access to information and communication technologies in different areas of the municipality.
According to the local authority, the investment represents an advance in the modernization of digital infrastructures and should provide families, businesses and institutions with a faster, more stable and efficient internet connection. The expansion of the network is also pointed out as a contribution to territorial cohesion and to equality of opportunities, allowing the localities of the municipality to approach the connectivity conditions available in major urban centers.
With the completion of the works, scheduled for the last quarter of this year, the municipality of Alijó will have fiber optic coverage close to 98%.
