The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, called PSP unions and GNR associations for new negotiation meetings on September 17 and 29, according to the ministry. The summons for the new rounds of negotiations was sent on Friday.
In a note sent to newsrooms, the Ministry of Internal Administration stressed that the scheduling of the meetings was not a reaction to protests, but rather the fulfillment of a calendar that was always planned. The ministry emphasized that these meetings are part of a previously established plan.
The meetings will involve both the Public Security Police unions and the Republican National Guard associations, thus covering the two security forces under the ministry's jurisdiction.
