Magnitude 1.9 microseism recorded in the Madeiran sea

A microseism of magnitude 1.9 was recorded early this morning on the Josephine seamount, located in the Atlantic. The seismic event was detected by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), responsible for monitoring seismic activity in Portuguese territory and adjacent waters. The epicenter of the microseism was located on the Josephine seamount, a submarine geological formation in the Atlantic Ocean. This type of small-magnitude seismic event is relatively common in areas of submarine tectonic activity and generally poses no danger to the population or infrastructure.
