The government announced an extraordinary support of 12 million euros for wine growers in the Douro region. This measure aims to compensate for the difficulties faced by producers during the harvest.
The payment will be made directly by the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto (IVDP), which is the body responsible for the management and regulation of wines in the Douro region.
Wine growers will receive support based on the quantity of grapes that remain unharvested during the harvest. This means that producers who leave more grapes unharvested due to market conditions or other factors will be entitled to proportionally greater support.
