The service stations of Castellón are warning about the possibility of diesel exceeding 2 euros per liter in October, which would be an unprecedented historical value. This concern arises in the context of a continuous escalation of fuel prices and the scenario expected for the next month, should the tax exemptions not be renewed by the Spanish Government.
The Regional Business Federation of Service Stations, Fedmes, revealed that what happens on October 1 will depend on the measures adopted by the Executive and the quotations of refined products. The national confederation CEEES stated that, without government intervention, the price of gasoline will rise by more than 6 cents and diesel will increase by 24 cents per liter.
CEEES is asking the government to restore VAT to 10% and a reduced Special Hydrocarbon Tax, measures that were implemented last spring. These tax exemptions were fundamental in containing the price increase during that period.
The service stations of Castellón are supporting the alert issued by the national employers' association, emphasizing that the current situation represents a significant threat to consumers and the sector. Lack of government action could translate into considerable financial impact for vehicle owners who depend on these fuels.
