Oliver Solberg took the lead of Rally Chile after the conclusion of the first stage of the competition. The driver showed consistent performance throughout the timed sections held on the first day of competition.
Takamoto Katsuta, who had been the fastest during the shakedown - the reconnaissance test held before the official start of the race - ended up being the main retiree of the day. The Japanese driver failed to complete the day's special stages.
The event continues with the next stages scheduled for the following days, when the other competitors will seek to reach or surpass Solberg's position in the overall rally classification.
