The Hospital da Piedade, located in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, will be renovated and transformed into the first Super Centro Carioca de Saúde in the city, specialized in the care of children and adolescents up to 18 years old. The unit will operate in an integrated manner with the Hospital Pediátrico Jesus, in Vila Isabel.

The new center will offer services in 13 medical specialties. Among them, there will be a Treatment Center dedicated to Type 1 Diabetes and Childhood-Youth Obesity, with the possibility of prescribing semaglutide, a substance present in medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy, according to the clinical condition of the patients.

The launch of the project was carried out by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere this Friday. The forecast is that the new reference center will begin operating soon, expanding the offer of specialized health services for the child and youth population of the city.
