Vila Franca de Xira is celebrating the 45 years since bullfighter Vítor Mendes received his alternativa, a native of Marinhais but who settled in Vila Franca when he was young, when his father was a clerk at the local court. It was in this city that Vítor Mendes trained as a bullfighter.

The commemorative program includes several initiatives, namely an exhibition, a colloquium, a tribute dinner, and a novillada. These activities aim to mark this important date in the career of the Vila Franca bullfighter.

The organization of these celebrations is in the hands of the Clube Taurino Vilafranquense, which has the support of local authorities and the Associação Escola de Toureio José Falcão, an entity that also collaborated in the programming of the events.
