The Municipal Health Secretariat of Macaé managed to zero out the consultation queues in seven medical specialties of the public health network. The specialties covered were Neuropediatrics, Dermatology, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Allergology, allowing patients who had been waiting for appointments to now schedule their visits.
To achieve this result, the department combined different strategies, including in-person health drives conducted at night and on weekends, active patient outreach, and remote care through telehealth. The action involved fifteen specialist doctors who worked on rotating schedules.
Neuropediatrics accounted for one of the largest volumes of care, with more than 5,000 consultations conducted through Digital Health since January. In seven health drives held, approximately 250 children were seen per day. Patients who had already been waiting in line were contacted by the health team and called for appointments at the Dona Alba Medical Specialties Center, located in the city center.
