The Local Health Unit of Lezíria will install a new robotic surgical system at the Hospital Distrital de Santarém, with an investment of 2.39 million euros, plus VAT. This amount is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
According to ULS Lezíria, this is the first robotic surgical system of this generation to be installed in a health institution in mainland Portugal, representing a milestone in the technological modernization of the National Health Service.
The equipment incorporates more than 150 changes and innovations compared to the previous generation. Among the features, the force feedback technology stands out, which allows the surgeon to receive information about the pressure exerted by the instruments during procedures.
The system also has a new processing, visualization, and control architecture, providing high-definition three-dimensional vision of the surgical field, articulated instruments with a wide range of motion, physiological tremor filtering, and greater precision in executing surgical movements.
