Cruzeiro's board is awaiting a financial agreement between Flamengo and River Plate to close the loan of left-back Viña. The Minas Gerais club will cover the Argentine player's salaries, who would be transferred for free. The negotiation needs to be concluded on Friday, the last day of the transfer window.
Loaned by Flamengo to River Plate at the beginning of this year, Viña has not played since June 15, when he represented Uruguay against Saudi Arabia in the first round of the World Cup. The Argentine was signed by the red-and-black club in 2024, suffered a serious injury, and never managed to justify the investment made by the club.
For being out of then-coach Filipe Luís's plans, Viña was loaned to River. The current agreement is valid until the end of this season and contains a purchase obligation of five million dollars (R$ 27 million), conditional on the left-back playing in at least 50% of River's games in 2026.
